Mascherano asks for common sense to avoid a potential dispute between Barcelona and the AFA

The vice-captain of the Argentina national team, Javier Mascherano, called “common sense” if the Barcelona should play the final of the Champions League on June 6, as the Copa America starts on 11 of the same month and the FIFA regulation requires clubs to release players 15 days before the competition.

“First let’s go to the final, which is what we have in hand. Surely we’ll discuss, but I think you do not have to grab a book and a law but common sense”
-Mascherano said in an interview with Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

The UEFA champions league final will be held on June 6 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, while Copa America will begin on Thursday, 11 although Argentina debut on Saturday 13, against Paraguay in the stadium The Home La Serena. Argentina will be played their second game on Tuesday 16, against Uruguay at the same stadium; and the last game of the opening round will be played on Saturday 20 against Jamaica in Sausalito Stadium Viña del Mar.

Despite the fact that the quarterfinals of the European competition is yet to be played, the date of the final is something that worries many of the coaches of the teams participating in the Copa America.

The situation could affect not only Mascherano and his Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi, but several footballers who have regular presence in the Albiceleste and whose clubs are still in competition in the European tournament: Carlos Tevez and Roberto Pereyra ( Juventus), Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore (Paris Saint-Germain) and Cristian Ansaldi (Atlético de Madrid).
