Nicholas Tripichio made his first-team debut for Velez Sarsfield yesterday. The young Argentine played in the first 61 minutes against Newell’s Old Boys. He was used in the midfield and was substituted after a decent performance
Nicholas Tripichio has been an important player for the National Team since the U15 days. He also won the U17 and U20 Sudamericano (South American Youth Football Championship) in 2013 and 2015 respectively. He was a part of team when Argentina reached the semi finals of U17 World Cup in UAE (2013).
During the 2015 U20 Sudamericano in Uruguay, Nicholas started in 7 matches out of 9 and Coach Humberto Grondona effectively used him in four different positions, as CDM (thrice), LWB (twice), CM (twice) and CB (once).
The 19-year-old Nicholas will have to play a vital role in this year’s U20 WC, which will take place in New Zealand from May 30 – June 20.
